This movie has a very simple plot but it is very entertaining. But then again this is coming from somone who loves the the Time Machine (the newer version). I basically love all movies that involve time travel and creatures. I love the visuals, the acting and the fact that the Apes looked kind of scary (not that scary though). In addition, the ending was cool too.

I might seem somewhat biased as a Burtonite but this was truly a wonderful film. Like most of tim burton's work it was gorgeously visously stunning without using to much CgI and using Rick Baker for the makeup wich is absoluetly astonishingly real. If that isn't allready enought to make the movie great the acting is top-natch especially TIm Roth and Michael Clarke-Duncan. The story was cleverly crafted, especially for a remake. ANd it had one great suprise ending, that would be possible for a sequael but a sequel would seem to far of a stretch, a sequel of a remake is kindda bad deja vu.

I saw this movie at the theater when it first came out, I liked the original, but this one was just terrible!!! I hated it! This movie was good. It put the first one to shame but other than that this movie rocked. It was a fast paced action that told a story that was a great and compeling story. I was really suprised because of the great story, and acting. Tim Burton still has not found himself as a director. He does not know what to do right. The best thing he has done was Sleepy Hollow. I just think that he should do something that fits his name. The visuals were not all that great ether. I was very dissapointed on that issue it was not really good at all. They looked like clamation thats all I'm saying.

This is what happens when Tim Burton meets Hollywood. Being one of the most inspirational/creative directors in the biz I guess you can afford a stupid movie every once in a while. Why in the hell did anyone cast Wahlberg in this movie? Word is that Matt Damon was the origional lead guy pursued for this role. He might have brought some reality to the character. Markie is off the mark. Helena Bonham Carter was captivating. Tim Roth was good, as always. Can't stand a table with one leg. I never bought into what was happening on the screen. It's okay Timmy, use your milligan on this one. I blame corporate fakists of Hollywood for this one. I'll always see your movies opening night.

This is a reamke of a old classic from a long time ago.The whole conceptr is a great idea.The costunes are really great.But the acting in this movie could be a little better.Overall it is a good remake and they did a great job bringing a old movie back to life.

I liked this movie, I thought it was creative, good action, good story, good plot, blah blah blah. My one problem was Mark Wahlberg. This was by far one of the worst performances that I've seen, and he should really stop while he's ahead. He didn't know what the hell he was doing, he's just some pretty boy onscreen for 2 hours while the apes do all the good work. AND THE RAZZIE FOR WORST ACTOR GOES TO...MARK WAHLBERG!!! CNN, E!Online, and even Roger Ebert did not like the remake of Planet of the Apes. Thanks to all of you who appreciate all of Tim Burton's films as much as I do, including this movie. I've never seen a Tim Burton film I din't like. But I wonder why Mark Wahlberg was chosen for the main role. That's not a mistake; he was great, but I would have expected someone else. I'm only 13, so I didn't see the entire old version of Planet of the Apes, though I've seen a little bit of it. This new version was directed by Tim Burton, who directed it beautifuly. It's about a man(Mark Wahlberg) who works at a space station and goes off into space to find the escape pod that carries one of the test monkies named Semo, but the man gets lost and goes through a time portal, then crashes on a world run by apes who capture humans and torture them. Obviously, these apes rule the world. The man escapes with the help of a caring female ape, along with some other humans, including a woman who's father is killed by the head ape. Now the apes are after them. The greatest scene is at the end, when there's a huge war between the Native American-like humans and the apes. I only recognize the voice of one of these apes, who is the head ape's assistant, played by Michael Clark Duncan(who played John Coffee in The Green Mile). I don't see why many people didn't like this film. It is a great Tim Burton film, along with the breath-taking special effects. Burton's latest film, Big Fish, was probably the best film he ever made, but I'm not so sure. I can't wait for his next project. But I'm still glad I saw Planet of the Apes. You will be, too.

Barely worth it - Planet of the Apes Reviews

To me only the soundtrack and the action scenes make this film worth watching. Other than that there isn't much else. The acting really stinks for most of the actors especially Walhberg. So much of it doesn't make sense like if the humans can think and talk and act like us nowadays then what stops them from having one strong leader to lead an uprising? Uh huh sure. So see this film if you got a free rental and saw every other film in Blockbuster.

This was the most disappointing film of 2001. I disliked it because the financial backing was available to do this film correctly, but they choose to do a mix from the book and the 1968 film. The reason the 1968 film was shot with a primitive ape society and not a modern 20th century society, was that the money was not available to make the film true to the novel. So for budget purposes they made the stone homes, horses, ect.. Tim Burton could have made an incredible film, but he chose not to. The morals from the novel would have been brilliant to include in the film. In the book, the apes take one of the humans into a lab, and using electrodes on her brain are able make her speak and talk about her ancestors and the fall of human civilization. How humanity became so dependent on servant apes that when the apes rebelled, the humans ran or became servant/pets for the apes. Even more fasinating in the book was how one character was able to rise above the ape view of humans and even rise to celebrity status, while the professor gave up his individuality and stayed in a cage, ate, slept and did not speak, he surrendered. A fascinating contrast of human reactions to a similar enviroment. Please do this movie over, and use the novel as the screenplay, it is perfect. There are so many important messages that can be made doing this film correctly. And it would be much more entertaining and enjoyable for audiences. And please use better actors, very disappointing casting for the film.

This movie is outstanding. Tim Burton managed to recreate the classic movies and direct a thrilling, actionpacked adventure combined with wonderful still moments and emotional highs. The Oscar-worthy visual effects and make-up are just phenomenal. I really don't understand so many people complaining about this movie. It's perfect entertainment and an intriguing and exciting expierience that just grasps the viewer and puts him into another world. Burton's "Planet Of The Apes" was one of the best theatrical experiences in my life and the DVD is among the most priceless in my collection. A true masterpiece.
