Duh, how did I went through this movie to the end, I don't know. Frankly, I did not expect much, but I should've expected even lower. No point about commenting the acting, it is absent. The script is poor and predictable, and only a few elements of the story raise a slight bit of interest before the end. The hero does nothing at all but all of a sudden he his the famous human mysterious "trouble-maker". The visuals are of the level of a low-budget B-movie. The apes look like puppets here and like actors with bad make-up there. The settings are quite uninspired. I recommend avoiding this movie.

Without a doubt on of the poorest efforts in cinema's history with few exeptions. A non-stop dissapointment with very few interesting moments in the entire picture. The storyline is very different than the original, and certainlly not in a good way. Basis, Mark Whalberg travels through some kinda time warp, chasing after a monkey, and crashes into the planet of the apes. Stupid, but not the worst part by far. He is discovered, captured, escapes, journeys far away, Intises a revolution, wages a war against the captures of humanity, teaches the morals of socioty to both man and ape, is rescued by his chimp companion, travels back to his original point in time and lands in modern America, in a land ruled by apes. Without recite the script line for line, it would be difficult to piece this together any better. Whilst the visuals are not as bad as you would have expected when taking the acting for example, the storyline and casting are both remarkablly laughable. Further proof that an all-star cast cannot save this movie from itself or from a demanding audince of bored amatuer film critics. Dreadfull, with little dispute.

Sure it's visually entertaining, has a great story-line, good acting and directing. Unfortunately the sole best part of this movie was the visuals. The story was what the movie was all about when it should have been more centered around the action and drama, then it would've been better (I like movies that stick to the plot, but this movie didn't have too good of one to begin with). There should've been something a bit more faithful to the original than a monkey getting shot into a time-vortex and the guy following it. Overall I really didn't like this movie that much. I did like the original because of its originality, but overall "The Planet of the Apes"'s death was only prolonged by this horrid remake.

This movie was so utterly boring, I couldnt stay awake! I dont understand what could go wrong with this film. The original was so amazing, so interesting, and so fun to watch! It's a classic! But this movie was down-right awful! I like Tim Burton (the director) and I like Mark Wahlburg (the main actor in the film) but I hated this movie! The only thing that kept me from giving this movie an F is the make-up, costume design, and the credible visuals. Rarly do I ever dislike a movie so much that I would fall asleep, but this one was so unimaginative to bear! I got excited when I heard that a remake to Planet of the Apes was going to be made, but when I saw this movie I was MAJORLY disappointed!!! If you are a fan of the series, DO NOT under any circumstances see this movie!

Why bother? When you remake a movie and make it better, I would rate it an "A". When you remake a movie and its the same, I would rate it a "C". WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW THIS FILM LITERALLY TOOK MY BREATH AWAY THE ACTION AND ADVENTURE JUST KEPT COMING..AND COMING AND IT DIDNT STOP UNTIL THE CREDITS STARTED. the acting in this film was performed at an A+ standard. it makes a great movie night flick for the family except children under 14+. and if the kids in your family are not very mature then i would advise this. the special effects in this movie are great. the actors filled there parts so dam well it almost felt real. anyone who says this movie wasnt good or gives it less then a B+ dont bother reading there reviews, theres something wronge with them lol. an instant classic a must see for everyone...so get in and watch it asap!!! I liked this movie. This movie tells the story of an astronaut who landed on a planet full of apes and rescuing a bunch of humans being captive of the apes. The battle between ape and human had begun and the humans have won the battle. The apes and humans lived together peacefully on the ape planet. The astronaut played by MArk Wahlberg, went back to earth but he discovered that it's now a planet filled with apes. The ending is way off but the rest of the movie is pretty good, where Mark Wahlberg battles the apes with Estella Warren. Michael Clarke Duncan makes a pretty good gorilla. Tim Burton did a fine job with the direction of the movie. I liked this movie.

I do not understand Hollywood's constant need to redo movies that are classic. Check that - money- that's why they do it I guess. Anyway this movie is a mess from start to finish. This is probably an anti-Tim Burton film, although the talented man did direct it. The only redeeming factor of the movie is Tim Roth's performance, as the vicious general of the Ape Army. A successful remake - Planet of the Apes Reviews

This movie is one I would consider a successful remake. Very few remakes pull off the retelling of the original story successfully but this one does. In this remake is the same premise of an astronaut landing on Ape world. While Ape world was in the 40th century in the original, Ape world in this one is another planet or so it seems. Although the astronaut doesn't discover the remains of the Statue of Liberty and grieves the loss of his society, the astronaut here does find himself in Ape world's version of the Lincoln Memorial at what he thought was Washington D. C. Overall this movie is a successful remake and I highly recommend it for any video library.
